Dr. Michael Garber
District Governor
Lion Mike first joined the Port Clinton Lions Club in 1984, serving as Club Director and Third Vice President until a job transfer to Chicago in 1989. After retiring and returning home, he rejoined the club in 2018 and has since served as First Vice President and Club President for two consecutive years.
Mike has also served on the Board of Directors and as Ways and Means Chairperson, Disaster Relief Advisory Board Chairperson, and Membership Chairperson.
At the District level, Mike served two years as Zone 1 Chair before becoming a district officer.
Mike has been awarded a Melvin Jones Fellowship, the Council of Governors Award (2026), the International President’s Award (2024), the Lions Key Award (2022), and Club Certificates of Appreciation (1986, 2020).
Professionally, Mike retired from USG Corporation after more than 41 years as Director of Leadership and Organizational Development. He earned his bachelor’s degree, MBA, and Ph.D. Mike and his wife, Lion Lorna, are active members of the Port Clinton Lions Club. With their two daughters, five grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren, they exemplify the Lions motto, “We Serve.”
